Equita'Lyon
For the first time ever, Longines has taken part in Equita’Lyon, a captivating event aimed at the wide world of equestrian enthusiasts. At this year’s event, the Swiss watch brand was the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the proceedings. What’s more, on that Sunday, the Longines Grand Prix presented by GL Events was run – and won by Maikel van der Vleuten riding VDL Groep Verdi. In Lyon, the crowd was able to discover Longines DolceVita, the event’s dedicated watch reflecting the brand’s elegance. From October 30 to November 3, Lyon witnessed Equita’Lyon, a captivating event aimed at the wide world of equestrian enthusiasts. With its passion for equestrian sport, Longines was delighted to be the Official Timekeeper and the Official Watch of the event. On Sunday, the Swiss watch brand was the Title Partner of the Longines Grand Prix presented by GL Events. It proved a thrilling competition, won by Maikel van der Vleuten on VDL Groep Verdi. Bringing together over 650 exhibitors and breeders spread over 120,000 sq.m., the event served as preparation for the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping competition final, to be held precisely in Lyon From April 17 to 21 2014. In the context of Equita’Lyon, Longines also provided its support to JustWorld International, a charity association, to help it further its mission successfully. JustWorld International collects funds for a variety of projects designed to assist children in developing countries, particularly within the ambit of its “Give 4 Good” worldwide campaign, backed by many professional riders. Every year, “Give 4 Good” provides over 3,000 children with an opportunity to improve the course of their life. In this perspective, Longines set up a “Longines Clear the Jump” contest at the 2013 Equita’Lyon competition. Every obstacle faultlessly cleared at the Longines Grand Prix presented by GL Events, had Longines make a donation to JustWorld International, enabling the Swiss watch brand to assist the association’s work concretely. In Lyon, Longines presented Longines DolceVita. This collection is dedicated to those women who love the irresistible Italian way of life and who want to add a zest of DolceVita to their own daily life. The timepiece of the event was a quartz watch (calibre L178) in steel set with 32 diamonds (0.269 carat, Top Wesselton VVS) whose sparkle emphasises the rectangular form and harmonious proportions of the case. The white dial features ten indices, an Arabic numeral 12 and silvered hands that indicate the hours and minutes, with a small second at 6 o’clock. This elegant, contemporary model is mounted on a steel bracelet. Water-resistant to 3 bar (30 metres).

FIS World Cup Alpine Skiing – The Start of a New and Promising Season
The story of Longines and Alpine skiing goes back to 1933, when the brand was responsible for timing races in Chamonix. As the official timekeeper for the FIS World Cup Alpine Skiing races, Longines is looking forward to the coming season, when it will be launching a brand-new project: the Longines Future Ski Champions. This competition will take place in Val d’Isère from 12 to 14 December. Fourteen skiers under the age of 16 from 14 different countries (Austria, Canada, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA) will be competing against each other in an exciting event. They will have an opportunity to take part in a two-run giant slalom on the lower section of the official slope for the FIS World Cup. The conditions and the timing equipment will be the same as those for the official races. The prizes will be awarded in the presentation arena, just before the draw for the official competition on the following day. The young skiers will have to excel if they want to have a chance of becoming the champion for 2013 and winning a Longines watch, a trophy and a cheque for USD 20,000 for their national skiing federation, intended to be invested in developing activities for young people. Longines ambassador of elegance and Norwegian skiing champion Aksel Lund Svindal will also be promoting this competition. This year, the Swiss watch brand will once again be presenting the Longines Rising Ski Stars prize to the two most successful young skiers, i.e. under 21 years of age for the girls and under 23 for the men, who take part in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup. In fact, the brand also organises the Longines Future Tennis Aces tournament during the French Open at Roland Garros, for which it is also the official partner and timekeeper. Moreover, at the Prix de Diane Longines the brand also holds the Prix Longines Future Racing Stars, a race for young jockeys organised in collaboration with international schools.Reflecting the precision, technique and elegance of sport, a chronograph in the Conquest Classic line will be the official watch for the season. With a diameter of 41 mm, the steel case of this model houses the L688 exclusive column-wheel chronograph movement.
